The Tapas Room

The New Tapas Restaurant in Broadway Market Tooting

Tooting Broadway seems to be growing and changing so quickly, with new bars and restaurants opening monthly. It’s great to see such a selection of cultures and cuisines, so much choice and amazing freshly cooked food on offer every day in Tooting.

As I may have mentioned before, Tooting has two markets and it seems that the market culture has predominantly changed from your local groceries and butchers to a trendy place to eat and drink. I'm so happy that we’ve got all this on our doorstep, but with such a diverse mix of culture – Tooting Town still hangs onto its roots and has become a popular location to live and enjoy a night out, in the borough of Wandsworth.

The Tapas Room is a welcomed new addition to Broadway Market in Tooting and is the little brother of the Donostia Social Club in Pop Brixton. There's a delicious selection of Spanish Tapas on offer and a substantial wine menu that sound like they would match the tapas dishes very well. The small market eatery is decked out in the style of a traditional Spanish tapas bar, with beautiful Spanish tiles, high benches and stools and lots of Spanish produce covering the walls.

The menu is a mix of meat, fish and a few veggie options, which is literally cooked right in front of you in a small, compact kitchen - the hub of The Tapas Room. The food comes out when it’s ready which is probably why I love tapas so much. You never have to wait too long and you constantly have something to eat.  Most of the dishes are small and perfect for sharing so they recommend 2/3 dishes per person and maybe complete your selection with a meat or cheese board.

I went along with my bestie, Rachel on a Wednesday evening. The market was buzzing, with a great atmosphere. As recommended we picked a selection of 2 tapas each, with a Meat & Cheese board.

All the dishes we chose were delicious, cooked to perfection with superb presentation. We especially loved the Morcilla on toast, topped with quail’s eggs and you just have to try the fresh Heritage tomato salad, perfectly oiled and seasoned and we washed it all down with a delightful bottle of Rioja, which of course matched the dishes perfectly.

So... If you love Spanish tapas, enjoy a good Rioja or glass of cava, then go and visit The Tapas Room in Broadway Market, i'm a massive fan and I think you will be too!
